Internet Table-Top Rally Championship 2003
Round 3 - Breckland Rally
Route Card Updates

Q1. Why is the rally called Breckland?
A1. In "Crow's" active days of road rallying (70's and 80's), he was Clerk of the Course of the West Essex Car Club's similarly named event. It was innovative in that it ran in mid-Summer over the lanes and smooth whites of south Norfolk. The first event in 1974 attracted a massive 210 entries! The event survived for a few years, then after a gap re-emerged as a popular stage event using Thetford forest. This TT is a tribute to its memory.

Q2. Where are you Mick Lowe?
A2. If you are reading this let me know your postal address so that I can send you your 4th place trophy for the Cloverleaf.

Q3. One quick question, do I rub out the route of round 1 and treat this as a fresh rally or do I need to avoid the Round 1 routes this time round?
A3. Start from fresh. The whole route for the Breckland is in the north half of the map, so there's only a little (motorwayish) bit to rub out from the Five Diamonds Rally.

Q4. Will you be updating the results table as answers arrive?
A4. Yes, but only periodically. The updates will stop around August 27 since I will be on holiday until September 5. So the final results will be delayed too.

Q5. Problem with TC12A?
A5. The reference for TC12A should be 379 665S. This has been corrected on the web page but not the .PDF or .DOC files.

Q6. Problem with Route Card 8?
A6. The roundabout at 329 681 (if you get there!) must be traversed in an anti-clockwise direction.

Q7. "Ansi" in Route Card 12?
A7. Oops ... Typo left over from the Cloverleaf TT - should be "Answer".

Q8. Can you confirm whether the clues have to be visited in order?
A8. Can only refer you to rule 11.

Q9. Can you confirm whether there should be a gap on the RHS of clue 3?
A9. I believe clue 3, as it stands, is correct.

Q10. Which Route Card does Q8 refer to?
A10. Route Card 7.

Q11. Clarification of railway crossings is required. Are disused railways to be included? Is a "level crossing" over or under a railway?
A11. A clarification has been made to the Regulations as below. For the Breckland this need not be strictly followed since I will be flexible when marking RO/RU questions.
RO, RU - Number of times Over Railway, Under Railway - irrespective of a bridge symbol. Unless specified otherwise, disused railways are to be excluded. A railway crossing, where the line of the railway covers the road e.g. at a level crossing - whether or not marked as LC - will count as Over Railway.

Q12. Did Mike Biss win the real Breckland road rally in 1982?
A12. Yes.

Q13. Where there is a crossroads between roads of different colours, e.g. orange and yellow, the higher category road (orange in this case) continues unbroken through the junction but the lower category (yellow) stops at each side of the orange road.  If the rally route crosses the junction along the yellow road, does it count as an O>Y location for route check purposes?
A13. Yes.

Q14. Is the White South of the A 6071 in Longtown a through road?
A14. Yes.

Q15. RC12: TC12B......approach from the ???
A15. Deliberate omission.

Q16. RC7: O.K All diagrams not shown, but all gaps?
A16. Yes.

Q17. RC8: Tulips to be used in any sequence?
A17. See rule 11.

Q18, Is the definition of whether a spot height is on a road the same as letters that impinge it, ie. that they must be touching the black outline, or different?
A18. For the sake of a definition the whole spot must be within the black outline of the road.

Q19, Am I right in thinking that the definition of whether a church is within 200m of the route "from the edge of the black line to the middle of the cross", counts out text churches without symbols?
A19. Yes; no symbol - no church.

Q20. Re Route Card 7; Is the fifth diagram to scale?
A20. Yes - same scale as the other four!?

Q21. Is the white over the Motorway in 1974, an NTR or a gated through road?
A21. NTR.

Q22. This may be a print error on my map but I have 2 dots either side if the junction in 0678 (SH193). Which is correct?
A22. I've taken the westernmost marking to be a gate.

Q23. What X roads in Km sq 4476, do you mean 4376? or is it more {unknown route check information}?
A23. I (of course!?) mean the O(O)YY junction, ESE of SH98.

Q24. Can you confirm that the white road going through the wood at 410609 is a through road?
A24. No - this is a NTR.

Q25. Is SH51 on the junction in 0976?
A25. Yes.
