There was an enormous rush of results in the hour before closing: 55 answer sheets, sadly many were attempts at guessing to add to your final score. That made my final workload a burden, but many of you commented about having very late bursts of inspiration or desperation. Yes, you all thought the Cloverleaf was a lot harder than the Five Diamonds, and this is reflected in 30 finishers as opposed to 48. Despite the difficulty, there were some excellent scores, with David Bell 's 99 securing 1st place. Peter Smith (98) and Mike Biss (96) took the remaining podium placings. Mick Lowe (93) was an award winner in 4th, and the Five Diamonds victor, Peter Robertson (92) took 5th place. These guys look well set to be fighting for the Championship over the coming months. My commiserations to those who faired less well or were so disillusioned that they failed to supply any answers. Table-top rallying demands patience, inspiration, problem solving skills and plotting accuracy, and some may be put off their attempt. Don't be! I have supplied very detailed solutions to the route cards so that competitors can see how the cryptic clues were solved and how the routes were defined. Study these to understand how "Crow's" mind works and kick yourself that the route cards were not really that difficult after all. Then come back encouraged to tackle rounds 3 and 4. Just a month's rest now before the Breckland Rally. Your latest feedback has been noted, and I think you will find that there will be some easier sections to get you scoring quickly on the Breckland before you have to switch into headache mode.
