Crossing ETLs clarification: Count all ETLs instances, not the number of different cableways.

Some queries raised about differences in map editions C1 and D that affect Part 2 of Route Card 11. Is the road under the railway at 22702535 (edition C1 only) usable? I say, yes. But if you've already submitted answers and assumed, no, then no problem, I've accounted for the uncertainty in the acceptable answers.
Also, there is some doubt about the via points. Route Cards Version 7 now clarifies with two alternative plots as follows: Wi C Sp l e on is S o u nd Ch/C om C/eC P n A N notr S M ws W on O no o. Thanks to Ian Buxton.

Lots of questions coming in about Part 2 of Route Card 4. I think most are answered by careful interpretation of the Route Card instruction At all NAM∆ travel the LWR - particularly how it might work at a YYW junction!

September 9, 2004
In Part 2 of Route Card 1: Assume SH157 near 170140 is on the junction. Thanks to Paul Taylor.

September 6, 2004
In Part 2 of Route Card 11: CRO has been replaced with CRO except for "W" . (Route Cards Version 6) Thanks to Peter Smith.

A general query re: LWRAM∆ and LWRNAM∆. As Map means you can see the triangle on the map. Not As Map means the map doesn't show a triangle - it's virtual - I've assumed there is an unmarked triangle for the purposes of the Route Card.

September 6, 2004
Part 1, Route Card 5: final three instructions should be "NNW N W" instead of "NNE  N  W". (Route Cards Version 6) Thanks to Steve Barber.

September 6, 2004
I've been getting some flak about Part 2 of Route Card 2 where it goes "T, >, 193, 192, 193". Sorry guys, still "No comment" ;-).
I will concede that there is a small problem near the end - the final six instructions should be "193, 192, <, 193, 192, 193". (Route Cards Version 6) Thanks to Gavin Rogers.

How's it going so far, now that you've had a weekend of plotting?
I've already formed the impression from Answers received, that some of the Road Rally Experts are finding their event a bit too easy. So, eager to attract extra income for Cancer Research, I will allow those competitors to upgrade to the Masters for a bargain price of £6. This option is only available until the closing date for Five Diamonds answer forms. The Entry Form has been updated with the new option.
Also, some potential one-off competitors have asked if they could enter individual events - no problem. Again the Entry Form has new options to select.

September 5, 2004
Only competitors in the Masters Championship events will have their placing used for the World Rankings table.

September 4, 2004
Gavin Rogers gets a virtual prize for being the first Master to submit an Answer Form.

September 4, 2004
Lots of £'s have been spent to make the road through 42325 26750 continuous has been added as an instruction to part 1 of Route Card 7. (Route Cards Version 5) Thanks to SuperSpecs.

September 4, 2004
In the first diagram of Route Card 10 there is now an extra bone on the second diamond. I've got it right this time. (Route Cards Version 4) Thanks again to Paul Taylor.

September 3, 2004

In the first diagram of Route Card 10 there is now an extra bone on the second diamond. (Route Cards Version 3) Thanks to Paul Taylor.

If a Route Check question asks, for example, how many telephones or churches on your route, and your route loops so that the same telephone or church could be "visited" (within 200 metres) more than once, only count it as a single visit. Thanks to Clive Hodgson.

September 2, 2004
Note: Any interim scores posted to the Results Table will be provisional. Past experience shows that sometimes different and acceptable routes are discovered which may alter the scores up or down.

September 2, 2004

The first line of graphics in Route Card 9 is in the wrong order. The page has been corrected. (Route Cards Version 2)

September 2, 2004
Alan Edwards gets a virtual prize for being the first Expert to submit an Answer Form @ 21:06 tonight.

September 1, 2004
Note that the definitive Route Cards are those viewed in a browser on the TT website. The downloadable Acrobat PDF version may be visually different due to the imprecise nature of the conversion (e.g. triangle symbols sometimes appear as round blobs) and pagination. For a local copy, it is better to "Save As ..." directly from your browser to a convenient place on your PC.
Any updates as a result of PR (Pesky Routecard) problems will only be made to the Route Card web page i.e. the original PDF file will NOT be updated.

August 26, 2004
Once the Route Cards have been published, feel free to pose questions about them to Help. However ... I will not reply to you personally; instead I will post the question and an official answer on this update page so that all competitors receive the benefit of the information.

August 25, 2004
Submit your answers using the following forms: Masters Championship or Road Rally Championship

August 25, 2004
Several competitors have not yet paid their entry fees. If you one of them, could you let me have your cheque or PayPal payment as soon as possible, so that I can forward a large advance to the Championship charity - Cancer Research UK.
This weekend paid entrants will receive Final Instructions which will include password access to the Route Cards.
Notification will go to your nominated email address; if you want to change to a different address please let me know.

August 18,2004
For your downloadable convenience, various pages from the TT website will be made available in PDF format. This will include the Navigational Regulations and the Five Diamonds Route Cards.

August 18, 2004
Why is the rally called Five Diamonds? Just nostalgia from the organiser. Many many years ago it was the name of his ten-pin bowling team.

August 16, 2004
Route Checks answers may be submitted at any time up to the closing date of September 28, 2004 (22:00). If you don't want to know your score, or other competitors to know your score, then submit your answers on September 27 or 28. The small risk is that if you and several others are penalty free on the event, the person with the earliest Route Checks answers submitted will be the winner.
Answers posted before September 27 will be marked and recorded on the Results Table.

August 15, 2004
Plotting area. Only the north half of map 193 will be used. All roads leading to the edge of the map or south of Northing 10 are NTRs.

August 14, 2004
The TT Navigational Championships will be sponsored by The Basic Roamer Company. The winner of the Five Diamonds Rally, in addition to a trophy, will receive a Basic Roamer of their choice.

July 29, 2004
Ordnance Survey have produced a new revision D of map 193. Don't panic - the route cards for the Five Diamonds Rally and the Breckland Rally will plot on both the older revision C1 and the latest revision D.
