Gavin Rogers battled through tough navigation to emerge as winner of the Five Diamonds Rally, the opening round of the Internet Table-Top Rally Championship. A total of 75 competitors took part in the contest which lasted throughout March.

Set in the northern half of map 117, competitors had to tackle 12 route card puzzles and confirm their routes with route check answers.

Navigation included clues based upon longitude/latitudes, Su Doku, ciphers, Roman numerals and pi to 405 decimal places! Best answered was a "pace notes" section around the refineries of Ellesmere Port, but many avoided a circular herringbone that included roundabouts.

Gavin, the reigning champion, just headed Peter Robertson on a tie-decider, and David Bell took third.

The Experts and Novices had easier "road rally" navigation and the class victors were Iain Tullie and Derek Newbould.
