Mike Gardner (S8): 'Thanks for an interesting event. I hope I've done
justice to it.' [GW: Could do no better justice than what you've achieved. Well done!] Brian
Vallis (E13): 'An interesting event with enough challenges to provoke serious thought
at times. I guess the standard is about right for me. Some good ideas. I believe one or
two unfortunate errors crept into your paperwork. If I am right, and time alone will tell,
then I think you may be putting off one or two new recruits who are finding it difficult
enough anyway wihout having to contend with another dimension. The Roadbook format is a
strong plus point.' William Lynch (M14): 'Probably for the first time ever, no
section had me completely baffled. Overall, I found the event easy, perhaps because I have
clocked up a few years' experience now, but not unsatisfyingly easy.' Godfrey Nunn
(M16): 'Sorry to hear that this may be your last table top rally. Thank you for all
your past efforts, particularly the introduction of the Roadbook and I hope you will be
persuaded to reconsider.' Robert Davies (B8): 'Very good event. I like the Roadbook
format very much. The only problem I had was time!' Patrick Byrne (E2): 'Seemed
tougher this year, but still enjoyable. Cheers...' Mike Keeble (S14): 'Thanks for
clarifying which class/what sections to complete... Most enjoyable event thanks for all
your hard work. May try again next year but ackward time of year with other distractions!
However, it did make a change not to go round the route counting churches and
SHs!' Ted
Manktelow (M15): 'Thank you for another enjoyable Langer Park. As usual, I think this
has been the best TT this year, with a good balance between easy and difficult sections -
there are also some very clever and unusual sections. I found the titles on the more
obscure (clever) sections very helpful, but mostly after I had worked out the logic - the
title then confirmed that I was right. The Roadbook idea is very good. I look forward to
the next Langer Park. Thank you.' [GW: A more favourable review from you this year,
Ted. Unfortunately, the result for you was not as good as 1995] Iain Tullie (N22):
'It's a few years since I last did the LP ('92 I think) [GW: '91 actually, Iain!]
and now I remember what I've been missing - you're still a devious set of ......!! Enjoyed
all sections - 14 and 21 just wouldn't 'click'. Particularly satisfied at cracking 15, 17,
18, 19, 23-25 although I've probably got them wrong! Many thanks!' Andrew Crocombe
(S5): 'Thank you for an enjoyable plot which, for a change, I had time to complete.
...it was fun while it lasted' Colin Hensman (M11): 'Very good event. Well done,
another professionally set Roadbook - it saves a lot of room especially over Xmas. I like
the cryptic clues - most liked sections 21, 8, 13, 17 & 19. Least keen 6, 7
& 20. As I've said before, I don't like to ignore sections... Not a real complaint,
...surely it's the same for all. Good event, keep up the good work.' Chris Jackson
(S11): 'Many thanks to the Langer Park team'. [GW: ...and many thanks for the card,
Chris!] Don Clarke (M2): 'Another good one. There was only one thing I didn't
like - 3rd line of the introduction - 'which may be our last etc'. I do hope that you can
keep it going as my ageing brain will decay even faster without it's annual stimulant.
Thanks for keeping me entertained 'deep in the heart of Texas'. Those thanks, of course,
go to the rest of the team as well.' [GW: Your wish is our command.... see y'all, Don
goes off to Texas to see his son each Xmas, and he sets his dates around the LP. What
better advert can we have?] Cath Woodman (N27): 'I enjoyed the event immensely
- thank you very much!' [GW: An excellent and probably unexpected result after 6 years
away] Andrew Nicol (S19): 'Thanks for another interesting event. I like the
format that allows for two discards, unfortunately there were three I couldn't do. I hope
that some of the titles will make more sense when we get the answers.' Pete James
(M12): 'One of the best I've done for sometime. I've probably made a few dreadful
mistakes with my route, but I wonder if it's been a touch too easy. Overall a most
enjoyable table top, I give it 9.9 out of 10 (11 out of 10 for Section 21!)...' Gillian
Goodlass (M9): 'Thanks for a good event.' Keith Endersbee (N10): 'Thanks for an
interesting event. I'm glad I found time to have a go this year. The format was
straightforward (unless I've missed any deviousness), varied, with enough to challenge the
mind without getting frustrated. ....I hope you have a gratifying response.' [GW:
Always gratifying to receive commendation from fellow organisers. Keith, did you realise
that it was 1988 when you last competed on the LP?] Alfred Winter (E15): 'Many
thanks for the month's entertainment, this includes everyone from the planning dept right
down to those who post the envelopes [GW: That's Maurice and I covered....] I am
sorry to see you are considering closing down, I am sure all those who compete will miss
your valuable service. ...this is my first attempt at the National Competition and also at
LP, I found the routes nicely balanced and hard enough to keep the grey cells churning
over, there will always be some easy and some hard and this will vary from person to
person, we all know how easy it is to hide a wood inside a tree! [GW: What a lovely
phrase!] 'Crow' (M4): 'Time's run out again! Despite having a good start before
Xmas I struggled long and hard to complete the last few. ...as usual brilliant and
enjoyable, and still the number one TT (until the PF next year!) [GW: 'What can he
mean, I wonder. ...a little bird tells me...] Chris Smith (N20): 'Sorry -
pressure of work (pathetic excuse I know!) means that I could not spare enough time to
complete the rally.' Howard Simpson (M21): 'A very enjoyable event, particularly
well presented, sections 12 and 23 were perhaps the easiest - it just took me several
weeks to realise what you were on about.' Anthony Preston (N20): 'Many thanks for
an interesting event. It was satisfying to be able to get the gist of most sections and I
will be interested to find out the solutions to those that I was unable to do.' Mitch
Fielding (M6): 'I enjoyed this. Thanks.' [GW: Another good result for you as well!]
John Evans (E4): 'An excellent event as usual, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found
a few mistakes, I think! But I was still able to complete the sections. Thanks - well done
and I look forward to next year's event.' Glynn Hayward (M10): 'Thoroughly enjoyed
event. Still unable to make a start on two sections so level must be right. Hopefully see
you next year. Thanks.' [GW: Your best results have been this year's Pathfinder and now
the LP, so experience is paying off. Well done!] Adrian Laming (N13): 'Thanks
again for a great rally. I do hope it isn't your last, especially as I've only done two!!
- besides, what will I do over Xmas. I think this is the nearest I've got to actually
attempting the correct number of sections on a Championship event - even if a few were
done in desperation! Hope you keep up the good work and thanks once again for all you've
put into your rallies...' Peter Cracknell (E3): 'Thanks for organising the event -
it must take forever! It's a pleasant change not to have to answer obscure questions once
the route is plotted; well, on those occasions I can manage it.' Stuart Lawrie (M13):
'A bit easier to understand what was required, from last year - just. Thanks for the best
presented rally - bar none.'
