Section 1
From the clue find the first spot height then add or subtract the numbers given to
find each spot height to be passed through. i.e. does not include the spot at T.C.. 2 to
avoid you working backwards. The correct spot heights where 81, 55, 73, 69, 119, 127, 92,
86, 129, 96. Most common mistake was going through s.h. 118 in 8299 (hard to see?) Route
checks on white loop in 8298, yellow loop in 8195, white in 8295, Southern edge of
triangle in 8194, and white in 8292.
Section 2
Yes it was "e's" y the super script digits giving the number of times the
letter e appeared in each grid square entered. Route checks on whites in 8191 & 8289,
yellow above 88 in 8190, yellow through 'i' of Beobridge in 7991, & yellow below Hall
in 8093.
Section 3
Stylized form of tulip diagrams of the junctions used on route, made slightly harder
by having some of the arrow heads missing. Route checks on yellow with s.h.98 in 7793,
yellow below Rudge Heath in 7995, white loop in7895, white in7895, & yellow in 7696.
Section 4
This just did not seem to work as I had intended therefore I've given everyone a clean
on this section.
Section 5
A very easy section just basically find the longest route within the given area. The
letters just gave the order the large letters of BRIDGNORTH DISTRICT should have been
passed through. Route checks at white loops in 6997 & 6898, on whites in7093, yellow
through Morville in 6794, & yellow in 6492.
Section 6
A very short section, the letter represented the colours of features etc. that you
should keep to your left. Bk = black, P = pink(buildings), W = white, Bn = brown, Bl =
blue, Y = yellow, O = orange, R = red, G = green. Route checks on yellow left of Oldbury
in 7091, orange in same square, orange in 7090, white by s.h.127 in 7089 & white in
7088.
Section 7
A simple self explanatory section. The only problem with this type of section is
finding the shortest route. Checks on yellow in 6988, orange in 7085, yellow in 7184,
yellow through woods in 7084, & yellow south of Blundell Fm. in 6883.
Section 8
This is one of the sections that caused you most problems. Yes I know there are two
Mill Fms. but the instructions clearly state visit the telephone box nearest to the farms.
Now the telephone in 5982 is much nearer a Mill Fm. than the one in 6387. Having done that
you are now stuck with two farms High Leys and Bank House sharing the same telephone in
5682, but no where does it say that there is a one to one connection between farms and
telephones, hence this is O.K. The final problem is a question of order to those who said
that the instructions do not allow for out of order, please note that the route refers to
passing telephones not farms and it is difficult to order telephone unless you know all
the phone numbers. That should clear your problems even if you are not that happy about
it. Route checks where sited on yellows in 6182, and 5581, and 5484, and 5882 and then
5686.
Section 9
A fairly easy section. For compliments read complement.. All you needed was to find
the 9's complement of the numbers given. i.e. Subtract each number from 999999 this would
then give you six map refs. to pass through. Route checks on yellows in 5695(E), 5596,
5397, 5295(W), and 5294.
Section 10
A self explanatory section, but a large number of your missed the gradient arrow in
5099 (well hidden below the 99), and therefore went down two arrows. Route checks where
sited on yellow in 4796, gradients in 4697 and 4695, yellow crossing 92 in 4792, an arrow
in 4791.
Section 11
A section that a few seemed to have problems understanding. The diagram were
herringbones, but using grid lines not roads. One left the start heading East whilst the
other headed W. When both are marked onto the map They leave an area between them with a
rather obvious route. Route checks on yellow at Westhope in 4786, yellows in 4585, 4883,
orange in 4882, & white in 4781.
Section 12
An easy one for you, just keep as close to grid line 45 as possible. Route checks on
white in 4573, yellow in 4672, whites in 4767, & 4566, & yellow in 4563 those who
used white that does not go across grid line 68 at 4768 got away with it.
Section 13
When the diagram is completed the shaded squares should give the numbers 5, 6, 10,
& 16. which can be arranged to give either of the following map refs. 510616 or
516610. Being kind I've allowed either placing my route checks on orange in 4961, yellow
in 4963, white link in 5163, red in 5161, & yellow through Pateshall in 5262.
Section 14
The quest was to find six farm names hidden in the message they where Town &
Temple in super/sub script in paragraph one. Ash in the small diagram (Try turning the
page upside down) In paragraph two there are Lynch and Hayes in italics one going
diagonally right, the other left (using the Y twice) The sixth farm was an error on my
part. It could be either Field being initial letters of the first paragraph (intended) or
Lea letters before and after the period that accidentally cropped up in the second
paragraph. I have therefore allowed either route. With checks at yellow 5363, yellow 5665
& 5566, yellow by Stoney Cross in 5467, yellow in 5469. or (yellows at 5363, 5562,
5665 & yellow above Westbrook Ho. in 5567 & yellow in 5469.)
Section 15
<= roads less than 4m wide or gradient arrow,>= roads more than 4m wide or gradient arrow, the other letters are road colours. Route
checks at yellow triangle in 5868, white loop in 5770, yellows in 5572,& 5373, and
white in 5574.
Section 16
Take the number of the grid line crossed and multiply together e.g.. if you cross grid
line 57 then 5 x 7 = 35. Route checks yellow by New Barns 6274, yellow above Withypool Fm.
6475, s.h. 104 in 6473, yellow 6272, gradient in 6170.
Section 17
Should have been fairly easy? find the places given, and cross the line formed by th
grid line 71, and 3N of 61. Checks at yellows in 7361, 7563, 7664, 7766, & 7870.
Section 18
Straight line distances to junctions at which you must turn as indicated, they should
be in the order R, R, L, R, L, L, R, R. Other junction may be used, provided that you go
S.O. Route checks yellow in 6567, gradient in 6564, yellow below church in 6562, yellows
in 6762, & 6961.
Section 19
Clue indicates junctions within grid squares. i.e. first junction is 8.5E of grid line
71, and 3N of 61. Checks at yellows in 7361, 7563, 7664, 7766, & 7870.
Section 20
Five pieces of herringbone diagrams (all must be used), all used in a clockwise
direction. It starts with the middle circle of the top row, but I'll leave the rest up to
you. Route checks at yellow in 7672, white below Bliss Gate in 7472, yellow in 7270,
yellow at windpump in 7072, and yellow right of Pound Bank in 7373.
Section 21
Some are still having problems solving these, clue: if you look at the letter 'J' then
it appears three times at the top of squares, but four times at the bottom, hence one of
these pieces must be along the bottom edge of the completed puzzle. It's little bits of
information gleaned like this that help to discover the solution. After this it was fairly
standard unders & overs, with route checks at yellow in 7774, white below railway in
8374, red by club house in 8375, yellow x-roads in 8272, & white under E.T.L.. in
8469.
