Bulletin No.4 - November 4, 2006 Emailing Map Solutions
For those wishing to submit maps by e-mail, send them to me at CROWmaps@CROWtable-top-rallying .org.uk (remove both instances of CROW before forming the email address). Bulletin No.3 - November 2, 2006 Map Solutions
For the sake of clarity, when you enter your competition number on the map submission form, please prefix your number with class e.g. M12, E23, N5. Bulletin No.2 - November 1, 2006 Map Marking There have been a few reports about the maps and buttons not loading. This should be solved by one of the following: 1) You may need to first install a Java run-time environment. This can be achieved by following the installation procedure after clicking on the "Download Java" link. 2) Depending on the Internet browser you use, make sure that you have allowed Java applets to run. 3) If the map or some of the buttons are still missing, click again on the appropriate Route Card number link at the top of the map page. 4) Closing and restarting your browser may cure display problems.
If none of the above works, please describe your problem in the No Route Checks? forum and resort to methods 2 and 3) below. Bulletin No.1 - October 25, 2006 Route Checks/Map Marking There are NO ROUTE CHECKS on the Rally Round Rally (Hurrah!). PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING VERY CAREFULLY. Instead, you will need to mark your route on the image of a section of the map. There are three ways you can achieve this:
1) For each Route Card answer web page, there will be a image of the area of the map for that section. Using drawing tools with your mouse you will able to mark the route and send the annotated image as your solution. You will notice that the maps will look faded and some fine detail (like contour lines) will have disappeared, but the roads will be clearly visible for you to mark your route. The size of each map is about 160k, which is insignificant for broadband users and should be quite acceptable for dial-up users. After painting your masterpiece, you will be able to attach comments to accompany your solution. This new technology has worked very well in trials, but sod's law says that some users are bound to have difficulties. Can I suggest that you try out the idea now? All the map sections for the Rally Round Rally have already been posted on the TT website.
Look at Map Marking Guidelines for instructions of how to mark your route. Access the Route Card maps from here: RC1 | RC2 | RC3 | RC4 | RC5 | RC6 | RC7 | RC8 | RC9 | RC10 | RC11 | RC12 If this method doesn't work for you, there are two alternatives. 2) Download the map image to your your PC. If you want to try this now, right click on the images below and click Save Target As ... Map 1 | Map 2 | Map 3 | Map 4 | Map 5 | Map 6 | Map 7 | Map 8 | Map 9 | Map 10 | Map 11 | Map 12
Use a painting/drawing/graphics program on your own PC to mark the route on the image. Save the image on your PC and then email it to me with a title containing your name and route card number like this: "Ray Crowther - Route Card 6" and any comments in the body of the email.
3) Print the map image. Mark your route so that it can be easily seen. Rescan the image, save the file and then email it to me with a title containing your name and route card number like this: "Ray Crowther - Route Card 6" and any comments in the body of the email. Regulations The Navigational Regulations have also been updated to reflect the changes above.
Enjoy. "Crow" |
