Route Card Commentary
|
Part 1 gave the directions by which to leave subsequent junctions. Roundabouts,
being a multiple of directions all at once were indicated by giving sets of
directions separated by commas.
In part 2 the directions were coded as clock times where the hour hand
indicated the direction of approach and the minute hand the direction of
departure. More than one of you pointed out the typo in the fourth instruction
from the end, where it should have been more like 2:38. That was the only way to
get the rest of the route to fit.
Despite this there were no route checks requiring alternate answers, overall a good clean well received route card.
RC3 - a few were caught out by the significance of the quote marks. "89"
means: Did the edge of any road or permitted path on route pass within 200
metres of any part of the whole and exact overprinting of the quoted word or
words "89" on the map? So your measurement was from the edge of your route to
the text "89", not to the location of the spot height.
