I can only apologise for the delay in resolving the last queries and
finalising the results. I am sorry if it has detracted from your
enjoyment of the Championship, hopefully it won't put anyone off having
a go next time.
Having set a round in each of the last two championships I won't be
offering to organise one next time. I hope someone else will step up and
have a go It is incredibly time consuming but some of the comments
received from you the competitors make it worth while.
Congratulations to the award winners on this event and in the
championship, these are linked below.
My thanks (and apologies again) to Crow for all his hard work putting it
altogether and for putting up with my demands and overdue submissions.
Also thanks to Gavin and Chris for setting the other two rounds in 2012.

Many thanks to everyone who attempted this year's final round. I think
most of the route cards were about the right level, however cards 11 and
12 were perhaps a little too challenging and certainly time-consuming,
which meant that most people were unable to complete them before the
deadline. I have added quite detailed commentaries for most of the route
cards, some of which will only serve to confirm some opinions about my
sanity...
Thanks to everyone (and particularly Crow) for your patience both with
the delayed event and the results. Thanks also to anyone who took the
time to add comments after their submissions or post feedback on the
forum - the good ones make it worth all the hard work putting the events
on, the bad ones we can hopefully take as constructive criticism and
improve for next time.

Message from "Crow".
My thanks to Iain Tullie for organising the Thalamorph
Rally. I've not had time to follow every detail of the event, but by
most accounts you've all had an interesting time. It's one hell of a lot
of work running an Internet TTR, so much acclaim to Iain for devoting
his time to entertaining you.
Provisional Results and route solutions may take a little longer than
usual to appear. I think Iain has a few adjustments to make and
calculations to crunch for tie-deciding. Plus I won't be around for the
next week as I will shortly be heading to Torquay to compete on the
Rally of the Tests - my first real rally for over two years - so lots of
nervous fluttering of wings from the "Crow". I think some of you are
doing the RoT too, so come and say hello in Torquay or on route (Car
53).
Catch you later.

Welcome to The Thalamorph Rally, the long-overdue 4th round of the 2012
Championship.
My apologies to those (if any) of you who have been on the edges of your
seats since September, when the event was originally planned to start.
Particular thanks to Crow for his patience.
As usual, there are 12 Route Cards, ranging from straightforward to a
little more challenging as you progress through the cards. I hope I have
pitched the cards at a reasonable level for all abilities, but as this
is the final round of the season, I will make no apologies if you find
it more difficult than the previous rounds.
Most of the routes are designed to be plotted completely with
AutoP(i)lot, although care needs to be taken when plotting whites and
narrow yellows as AutoP(i)lot will not necessarily take the shortest
route. When using AutoP(i)lot, I would advise you to always review your
route in Street View before submitting. This will help you tidy up any
plots up driveways and the like, which don't show up at OS 1:50,000
level.
All but one of the Route Cards should be solved using the 1:50000 scale
maps, the plotting areas are all around 13 km x 9 km as on previous
rounds.
There are three 'Regularity' Route Cards which will have penalties 'to
the second', similar to previous rounds. All of them will show the
distance.
Additionally, Route Cards 2, 6 and 10 are 'Timed' in the true sense -
the times taken on these will be added together and used as a further
tie decider, should totals be equal. So these sections should be tackled
'against the clock' as we used to do before 2012. In the unlikely event
that this does not resolve the tie, only then will furthest-cleanest be
applied, considering all route cards in order, not just your best ten. I
will be keeping track of these times manually and should any of these
route cards have to be re-marked, rest assured that it will be your
original time that will still count.
If you have queries please ask them against the appropriate Route Card
number in The Thalamorph Rally section in the Forum, or send a PM.
The Thalamorph Rally 2012 Login will open at 22:00 on Monday, October
8th.
