Bulletin 2 (March 6, 2024)

I am grateful for the entries and positive feedback for the "In Spheight OF All The Danger" TTR.

63 entries and £990 added to the charity pot. Surprisingly only 34 of you attempted the event, so thanks to the remainder for your donation but a shame you didn't have the pleasure(?) of a plotting challenge through February. 26 of the finishers attempted all route cards - Well Done.

The latter Legs sorted the men from the boys, or to be PC the masters from the experts. The sting in the tail, Leg 12, decided the winner. There was a spread of Leg winners with 10 different names on the cleanest, fastest roll of honour.

There are explanatory commentaries on the more challenging Legs, so I hope that everyone knows how the navigation worked.

It was a close run competition and Congratulations to the winner Richard Valler. A new name to ITTR who kept ahead of the regular and experienced contenders.

I'll be rewarding the podium positions with a prize as soon as I can find something appropriate and useful.

Thanks again for your support which I hope will carry forward to the Championship events later this year.

(263) - DO NOT pass through this SH.

[263] - The SH may not be visible (perhaps covered by a green circle) or indistinct, assume it is there on the road as close as possible to the first digit.

^263 - A Triangulation Pillar (TP) considered to be a SH located at the centre dot of the triangle.

263* - Pass as close as possible to this SH WITHOUT passing through it.

^263* - Pass as close as possible to this TP WITHOUT passing through it.

{5678,263,1.3485,120.7534} This refers to SH 263 in Grid/Kilometre Square 5678. Your route via point is 1.3485 miles away on a bearing of 120.7534 degrees from true North.

{5678,263,+555,-1045} This refers to SH 263 in Grid/Kilometre Square 5678. Your route via point is 555 metres East and 1045 metres South away based upon the OS Grid.

{5678,263,-555,+1045} This refers to SH 263 in Grid/Kilometre Square 5678. Your route via point is 555 metres West and 1045 metres North away based upon the OS Grid.

"(12x22)-(77/7)" Some form of maths or other instruction to define the SH. In this case the answer is 264-11=253.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

Some 1:25000 SHs may not be shown in a route card, but there will be sufficient to define the route. Always avoid (SH).

All Legs may use white roads (ones that are geocoded and can be traversed). You will occasionally need to use an unmarked road (@1:50000) but these will be referenced.

Regulations amended as:

4a. Penalties (Plotting Rallies)

Not attempting and the maximum penalty - 300 marks/seconds.

For each PC incorrectly visited (missed, incorrect approach or departure) - 60 marks/seconds.

For each TC incorrectly visited (missed, incorrect approach or departure) - 120 marks/seconds.

Taking the hint to reveal the complete route - 180 marks/seconds.
