Well, that's another TTR put to bed.

As I write all the solutions/commentaries that will be in place, are in place. The results are flagged as Final Results? and you now have five days (Until 23:00 on September 11) to register any queries before they become truly Final.

As expected there was a downward trend in the number of classified finishers, 51 on Crowless 1 to 38 on Crowless 2. The time of the year (school holidays?) and the extraordinary weather saw many entrants presumably tending children, on holiday or enjoying the extreme temperatures, outside rather than inside.

A satisfying event for me since my involvement was minimal thanks to the enormous efforts of the route card setters:  Bob Blackstock, Alex Hoult, Keith Irvin, Simon Lytton, Ewan Leeming, Andrew Green, Phil Robbins, Keith Cunningham, Monica Dowson, Ian Canavan, Peter Rushforth and Geoff Masterman. THANK YOU.

My provisional congratulations to Nigel Parish who at the moment looks to be clear winner with many of the premier plotters in his wake. An almost clean score in what was reported to be a particularly tough set of route cards. The most challenging was a picturesgue but harrowing jaunt through Clocaenog Forest, which only Nigel cleaned.

It's very tough trying to design route cards to encourage the newbies and test the masters. We will never satisfy all the competitors all the time. But there will be a new style of TTRs arriving in the next few months, which will have straightforward plotting (and sometimes no plotting) with a shift of emphasis to guiding a car around a route. You'll be controlling your car's speed to maintain a time schedule or beat target times, while overcoming hazards en route. You can see an example via the TTR home.
